How to Install iPhone Apps on an iPod Touch

The iPod Touch is similar to the iPhone, but it does not have the phone and camera. Even though these two Apple products are similar, the iPod Touch does not come with the same applications its flashier cousin does. Follow these steps if you want to install the iPhone apps on an iPod Touch.

Instructions

    • 1

Know the risks. You run the risk of crashing your iPod Touch and being forced to restore it to its factory settings. If this happens, you lose everything you have stored on your iPod Touch.

    • 2

Plug your iPod Touch into your computer. Go to the Jailbreakme website (see Additional Resources).

    • 3

Jailbreak your iPod Touch by downgrading your current firmware version to the 1.1.1 version.

    • 4

Install AppSnapp. After you have downgraded your firmware, a button reading "Install AppSnapp" will appear. Click on it. Give the application time to install.

    • 5

Reboot your iPod Touch. Once the install is complete, unplug your iPod from the USB cable and reboot.

Tips & Warnings

  • Repeat the steps if your iPod Touch freezes up or gets stuck during the install process.

  • Understand your warranty. Jailbreaking may allow you to install iPhone apps on your iPod Touch, but it voids all warranties provided by Apple.

  • Don't go to the Applerepo website. Although this was once the easiest way to install iPhone apps to an iPod Touch, the site no longer works.
