Hampton Bay ceiling fans have a patented connection system called "Quick Connect" to make ceiling fans much easier to install. When you are looking for a new ceiling fan, look at Hampton Bay to save time and aggravation with the installation.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Open the box that contains the ceiling fan and parts. Lay the parts out, and check to make sure all parts are included in the box. Read the installation instructions completely before you start to install the ceiling fan.

  2. Step 2

Gather the tools you'll need to install the ceiling fan. If you are installing the Quick Connect ceiling fan to replace a light fixture or old ceiling fan, you'll need a stepladder, pliers, circuit tester, screwdriver and wire strippers, depending on the condition of the existing wires. If you're doing a brand new installation, add a drywall saw, a ceiling installation box, nails or screws and a hammer or screw gun. A brand new installation requires you to cut a hole in the ceiling where the fan will be installed. A ceiling or mounting box is installed on the ceiling joists or between the ceiling joists to hold the ceiling fan and keep it stable.

  3. Step 3

Turn off the electric to the room at the breaker box. Remove the old ceiling fan or light fixture. Even though you've turned off the electric, test the wires with the circuit tester to make sure there is no electricity running through the wires.

  4. Step 4

Snap the Quick Connect mounting bracket into the ceiling fan box that's installed on or between the ceiling joists. You'll know it's connected when you hear and feel it click into place.

  5. Step 5

Mount the ceiling fan according to the directions included in the box for your particular application. Depending on your ceiling, you may need to install a regular down-rod, a hugger for low ceilings or a down-rod for high ceilings.

  6. Step 6

Insert the ceiling-fan blades into the ceiling fan, according to directions. You'll hear and feel them snap into position as you slide them into the fan-blade brackets. Install the light kit and light bulbs, if so desired. Turn the electric back on, and turn the ceiling fan on for a refreshing breeze.
