Choosing an MSN address may seem very easy, but there are many things to consider before you create your account. Your MSN email address is something used to identify you to anyone else online.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Consider the purpose of the MSN email address. If you will be using the account for business purposes, your address should be professional.

  2. Step 2

Think of your interests, likes and dislikes. Any of these things will help you to come up with some possible choices for your MSN email address.

  3. Step 3

Be creative. Odd or unusual addresses are less likely to already be in use by another MSN user.

  4. Step 4

Pick an identifier. MSN offers either @msn.com or @hotmail.com. You may have to pick @hotmail.com if you are under a certain age or if you will be using your MSN address for certain purposes.

  5. Step 5

Make a list of the possible addresses you want. This will make it easier for you when you check to see what addresses are available.

  6. Step 6

Check the availability of the address you want. MSN allows account holders to use each address only once to prevent security problems.

  7. Step 7

Add numbers, underscores or punctuation to your choices if the original option is unavailable.

Tips & Warnings
  • Remember that you will have your MSN address for a long time. Pick an MSN address that will outlast any current fads.
  • Never put personal information such as your real address, social security number, birth date or phone number in an MSN address. This information can make you a target for online predators.
