How to Convert a YouTube Video Without Software

If you've ever seen a YouTube video that's just so cute or so funny that you have to have a copy and share it with everyone you know, then you're in luck. Converting YouTube videos to downloadable formats is now as easy as saving a document to your computer, and, best of all, you don't have to buy any special software.

Instructions

    • 1

Copy the YouTube link of the video you want to convert and download. Highlight the URL of the YouTube video with your mouse and either push "control-C" or right-click, and select "Copy" to copy the link.

    • 2

Go to the KeepVid website where you can convert your YouTube video to a downloadable format.

    • 3

Paste your YouTube link in the bar under the KeepVid logo header by pressing "control-V" or by right-clicking and selecting "Paste."

    • 4

Click the green "Download" button and wait for your video's "Download Link" button to appear below.

    • 5

Select "Download Link." A window should pop up where you can choose to save the link to your computer. After the video has finished downloading, rename the video so that it now has a flash drive video (.flv) extension.

    • 6

Watch your video using a flash video player. If you don't have one, download one for free.

Tips & Warnings

  • Consider using KeepVid's shortcut option if you plan to download YouTube videos frequently. On their homepage, you can drag a "Keep It!" button onto your toolbar. Then, whenever you watch a video that you want to download, all you have to do is click "Keep It!"

  • Convert YouTube videos to formats other than flash drive videos by pasting the video link onto the bar on the vixy.net homepage and select your preferred format.
