It's that time of year again, and while you may have gifts in mind for the usual family members for whom you buy, you might not be sure how to choose the right Christmas gift for your foreign boyfriend or girlfriend. The following steps will show you how to make this a special Christmas for you and your foreign partner by choosing a gift that he or she will love.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Find out if there are any traditional Christmas gifts that people give in his native country or if there are any specific Christmas traditions that he participates in with his family so that you can incorporate these ideas into your shopping.

  2. Step 2

Talk to her family and friends about what types of gifts they normally give each other for Christmas. This way, you can get an idea of how elaborate the gifts are and what your foreign partner might be expecting for Christmas.

  3. Step 3

Ask him either directly or in a roundabout way what he would like for Christmas and if there's anything special that he would like to do to celebrate Christmas. If you're lucky, he'll actually tell you what he wants so you won't have to guess.

  4. Step 4

Look into possible gifts based on her interests or hobbies. For example, if you know that your girlfriend is into salsa dancing, but hasn't had the money or the time to take lessons, pay for her to take lessons at a nearby dance studio.

  5. Step 5

Choose a meaningful gift after you've done your research. Once you've found out what types of gifts he receives in his native country and what he's interested in, you should be able to choose a great gift for your foreign partner.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you do ask your partner what she wants for Christmas, ask her a few months in advance, if possible, so that you can still surprise her when the time comes to open gifts.
