Tactical driving, is simply put, driving a vehicle on a course and maintaining total control while going fast. This can be done with many different types of vehicles from cars to trucks to SUVs. Tactical driving can also be done in numerous types of weather conditions. Follow these steps to choose a car for tactical driving.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Determine which type of car you want to use while tactical driving. There are a wide variety to choose from such as a sports car, family sedan or a muscle car. The size of car you choose will help to determine if the car has a high rollover rate. These statistics can be checked with consumer reports.

  2. Step 2

Choose a car that has enough "get up and go" to complete the tactical driving course you desire. A fast car may not be the car you need depending on the type of tactical driving you intend on doing.

  3. Step 3

Look at the course you will drive. This will help determine how fast you need a car to go and how it will need to handle for any sudden turns or bumps in the road. If the course seems pretty straight then a super fast car will not need to handle curves and turns at increased speeds.

  4. Step 4

Check the car's suspension. A good, tight suspension can help the car's handling when you complete the tactical driving course.

  5. Step 5

Order a new set of tires for the car to avoid a blowout while driving at fast speeds and rapidly changing scenery while on the tactical driving course.
