Dressing in an emergency medical technician EMT uniform is a simple matter of purchasing several pairs of blue cargo pants with lots of pockets, and either light blue or white dress shirts. These can be found at most local retail stores or at any uniform store, depending upon how authentic you want the look to be and what you can afford to pay. Read on to learn how to look like an EMT.

Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Contact the local fire department or EMT services in your area to determine what they wear.

  2. Step 2

Shop for comfortable but sturdy blue dress pants with pockets. Many stores now offer Dickies, a brand that designs clothes for people who work outside and in strenuous conditions.

  3. Step 3

Select short-sleeve and long-sleeve baby blue or white dress shirts. These are the two colors most commonly used as a part of the EMT uniform.

  4. Step 4

Press your pants and shirts. Crisp creases on the legs and the sleeves of the shirts are critical to successfully emulating this look.

  5. Step 5

Iron on the EMT patches worn on the uniform shirts.

  6. Step 6

Add black shoes with thick rubber soles to complete the look.

Tips & Warnings
  • Purchase only clothing that fits you properly and is comfortable. Sloppy or ill-fitting clothing is not the professional and polished look that EMT's look for.
  • Before you apply any patches, check with local officials to make sure you aren't breaking any laws by doing so. In some communities, applying such patches makes you guilty of impersonating officials and can result in fines.
