Whether you're planning a trip to London and don't want to stand out as a tourist, or if you just want to bring a little taste of the United Kingdom to your daily life, dressing like a Londoner is easy and fun.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Look at pictures of your favorite British celebrities to get an idea of their style, but add some touches to make it your own. Some London style icons include Kate Moss, Victoria Beckham, Keira Knightley and Sienna Miller for women. Men, look to David Beckham for your fashion cues.

  2. Step 2

Step up your wardrobe. Dress in a mix of designer items with more casual pieces. Reach for vintage blouses or dresses to wear with your trendy jeans, rather than a plain T-shirt.

  3. Step 3

Wear more form-fitting clothes. Due to the frequent cool weather, Londoners have perfected the art of layering without adding bulk.

  4. Step 4

Depend heavily on accessories, especially purses, tights and boots for women, as well as scarves in the winter for both men and women.

  5. Step 5

Play it safe and sophisticated by dressing in basic black. Londoners are famous for having a lot of black in their wardrobes. Other neutral colors such as navy, camel, cream and white are also popular.

  6. Step 6

Experiment. Many new fashion trends have been born in the streets of London, so you never know what you're going to see walking around Kensington. Join these trend setters by mixing and matching styles, textures, lengths and colors to come up with your own eclectic look.

Tips & Warnings
  • Don't wear white sneakers, unless you're exercising or on your way to the gym.
  • Don't wear shorts except to the beach.
