Dress Heavy Metal Style

Heavy metal bands became famous in the 1980s, first for their pounding loud music that included screeching guitar work and head-banging drums. With the heavy metal style of music, there also came a heavy metal style of dress that included lots of leather, chains and studs. Toned down or turned up, you can still dress heavy metal style today- and still consider yourself trendy for the 21st century.

Instructions

    • 1

Add some silver to your black leather. Hang heavy chains around your neck or from the pockets of your jacket or pants.

    • 2

Wear a T-shirt that depicts some gory representation of a band or some other fantasy. Blood and death are popular components of the heavy metal look, rooted in the fantasy games that also follow the heavy metal movement.

    • 3

Look for clothes made of fabrics with skulls and crossbones on them. These items are now made into fashionable dresses and shirts.

    • 4

Cut your hair in an asymmetrical style, which is very popular today. Add the heavy metal look with a streak of pink or neon green.

    • 5

Choose studded bracelets and boots to wear with your more conservative styles of jeans or dresses. A black leather choker worn with a button-down shirt and jacket can be very edgy and brings a bit of the heavy metal look into your wardrobe without scaring everyone away.

Line your eyes with very black liner. A smudgeable kohl black pencil works best to get the punk, metal look.
