3. Wear clothing with a little extra room if you'll be feasting on Thanksgiving or Christmas (unless you're visiting family members who don't mind you undoing the top button after dinner).
4. Choose comfortable shoes if you'll be standing. Closed, pointy-toed pumps are fine if you'll be sitting in a restaurant, but less than ideal if you'll be mingling at a cocktail party for four hours.
