How to Dress for School in 30 Minutes or Less

In today's crazy world it always seems as if there's never enough time in the day. And when it comes to getting out the door in time for school, it's no different. Between school books, instruments, sports clothes, projects and more, it can be a harrowing experience. Here are some tips on how to dress for school in 30 minutes or less.

Instructions

    • 1

Shower the night before instead of in the morning. When it comes to family, fighting for the bathroom space seems inevitable. There are usually just too many people trying to do too many things in the morning. Take your shower right before you go to bed so that when you wake up, you only have to worry about dressing and styling your hair.

Gather and pack everything you're going to need for the following day. This includes lunch (if you bring it), your school books, your sports practice or game clothes, instruments, projects and more. By doing it the night before, you will lessen your chance of forgetting something and avoid rushing around at the last moment trying to remember where you left your shin guards.

    • 3

Lay your clothes out the night before. Standing before your closet, looking through your wardrobe, eats up a lot of time. Lay out what you want to wear the night before so that you can get up and go.

    • 4

Get up when the alarm clock rings. It's painfully early, but the sooner you bite the bullet and get up, the more time you will save yourself. Nothing is worse than hitting the "snooze" button, oversleeping and then suddenly realizing that you have 10 minutes to get out the door.

    • 5

Take your breakfast with you. While this technically isn't "dressing" for school, it will shorten the overall time that you need to use to get out the door and thus give you more time to dress. Eat things such as bagels, muffins, protein bars, fruit and granola bars. These are all things that you can eat in the bus or car.

    • 6

Study for all of your tests for at least two days before the exam. Nothing cuts into getting dressed and out the door for school more than the old "I'll study when I get up in the morning." Be prepared and you'll get a better grade.

Tips & Warnings

  • Time yourself to see how fast you can dress for school. If you can get it down to 15 minutes, then you can sleep an extra 15 minutes as well.
