Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Things You’ll Need:
- Root beer
- Ice cream
- Fountain glass
- Small plate (saucer plate)
- Straw
- Spoon
Step1
Place your straw in the root beer float and drink some of the root beer. Any ice cream shop worth their salt will have filled that root beer float right to the top. (Hopefully they've put a saucer plate underneath for spillage, if not ask for one.) Place your straw in the root beer float and enjoy the first quarter of the glass.
Step2
Knock the ice cream into the root beer with your spoon. Most root beer floats (at restaurants) place the ice cream sitting on the edge of the glass. Not only is it aesthetically pleasing, but it allows you to control when you want to add the creamy ice cream to your drink.
Step3
Eat some of the ice cream with your spoon as you sip some of the root beer from the glass. This is the best part, as you are getting the best of both worlds. The ice cream will not have dissolved yet, so you can alternate bites and sips between ice cream and soda to get the full effect of the sweet soda and creamy ice cream.
Step4
Stir the remaining ice cream into the soda. Invariably while drinking a root beer float, there will come a time when the ice cream has melted and it just sits in the root beer. Take your spoon and stir it up so you can again mix the flavors of the creamy ice cream and root beer.
Step5
Drink the rest of your root beer float with your straw. Alas, your root beer float experience has ended. But, never fear, because a quick trip to the store can have you floating back in root beer bliss in no time.
