Create a touch of summer that will last all year round with a mug full of colorful wooden spoon flowers. A wooden spoon bouquet is a great way for kids to create a gift for someone they love, or just to brighten up a coffee table or countertop.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Several inexpensive long-handled wooden spoons (at least 5 or 6)
  • Tempera paint or acrylic
  • Sponge brushes or paintbrushes
  • 1 large mug
  • Wood craft glue
  • Variety of flat wooden shapes (sold by the bag at craft stores)
  • Wooden beads, plain or colored
  • Plastic tablecloth or newspapers
  1. Step 1

Cover your working surface with a plastic tablecloth or a layer of newspapers.

  2. Step 2

Paint the handles of the wooden spoons green with a sponge brush or paintbrush, and place them, not touching one another, in the mug to dry. Be sure they are in the mug with the handles up.

  3. Step 3

Lay the dry spoons on a flat surface, and create petals by gluing the round or oval wooden shapes to the bowl part of the spoon. Allow the glue to dry completely.

  4. Step 4

Paint the front and back of the flowers in your choice of bright colors, and put them back in the mug until the paint dries.

  5. Step 5

Glue several wooden beads in a cluster in the center of each wooden spoon flower.

Tips & Warnings
  • If you are unable to find an assortment of flat wooden shapes, craft foam is a great substitute. Just cut the craft foam in petal shapes and glue them to the spoon.
