How to Dress Up as Link From Legend of Zelda

Along with Mario, Link is one of Nintendo's most recognizable and beloved characters. The star of the famous "Legend of Zelda" video game series, Link sports a unique and distinctly heroic set of clothes. He's usually covered in green garb from head to toe, only occasionally branching out into more daring color schemes. Dressing up like Link isn't as hard, but you'll need a few of these essential items.

Instructions

    • 1

Find a green cap. Link's cap is essentially a large fabric ice cream cone turned upside down and stuck to his head. The cap can vary in size, but make sure it's green.

    • 2

Grab a pair of beige leggings and a matching long-sleeve shirt. Long underwear makes a good choice for this part of the outfit because it's color-coordinated and rugged. Wear these as your base layer.

    • 3

Throw on a green tunic over your beige base layer. "Tunic" is medieval-speak for "bag-shaped shirt," so an oversize tee will work. The shirt should fall on your thighs about halfway between your hips and your knees.

    • 4

Wrap a brown leather belt around your waist. Avoid leathers that are shiny or patterned. Rustic, aged leather will give your outfit the most authentic look possible.

    • 5

Put on a pair of brown leather gloves. Technically speaking, Link wears gauntlets, which are like gloves but much longer, reaching all the way up to his elbows. Unless you're lucky enough to own a pair of leather gauntlets, however, gloves will work fine.

    • 6

Slip into a pair of worn, brown leather boots. The color should closely match that of the gloves and the belt. Avoid shorter shoes like work boots or hiking boots. Cowboy boots are ideal, as long as they're not overly decorated with tooled patterns or rhinestones.

Tips & Warnings

  • Add a toy sword and shield to your outfit and you'll be ready for battle.

  • Look at pictures of Link from your favorite Zelda game and model the specifics of your outfit after his.
