How to Dress Appropriately for a School Dance

Deciding how to dress for a school dance can be a difficult task. You always want to look your best at an event such as this. Dressing to impress is the key.

Instructions

1. Determine if the dance will be formal or informal. Dressing for each is completely different.

2. Dress for a formal occasion by wearing a formal dress or a dressy skirt and blouse if you are female. A suit of a solid color should be worn for boys, along with a tie. A tuxedo is often appropriate for such a dance, too. Coordinate colors if you are going with a date. Girls should wear more makeup than usual for a formal dance, and hair should be done differently. Boys should not wear hats inside the building.

3. Wear more casual clothes for an informal dance, but make sure to wear something different from your normal everyday attire. Boys should wear a casual shirt and slacks. Girls should wear a nice top, nice jeans and comfortable shoes.

4. Put on clothes that relate to a theme for the dance if there is one. For example, if the theme is "Paris, France," wear something that would be relevant to Paris. Do some research on what is appropriate for the theme, and don't spend a lot of money on it. Go to a consignment shop if something needs to be bought.
