A temporary tattoo is a great way to have the look of a tattoo but without the pain and permanency of a real tattoo. If you're thinking about getting a temporary tattoo, you may be wondering how to draw one.

From Quick Guide: Tattoo Design Basics
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Figure out what kind of medium you want to use for your temporary tattoo. Most people drawing temporary tattoos use fine-point Sharpies, but you can use also use henna.

  2. Step 2

Consider getting a stencil. You can purchase stencils as a part of a temporary tattoo kit or an airbrushing kit.

  3. Step 3

Clean the area you want the tattoo first. Simple soap and water will work. This will help keep it from spreading and from fading too soon.

  4. Step 4

Make sure the ink is dry after every stroke before going on to the next one. This will prevent you from smearing the tattoo. Pat your temporary tattoo with a tissue or a soft cloth after each stroke.

  5. Step 5

Use makeup remover or baby oil to remove the temporary tattoo if you mess up. You can also do this if the tattoo starts to spread. If you've made a little mistake that needs correcting, try dipping a cotton swab into makeup cleanser and fix the tattoo.

  6. Step 6

Stroke a toner over the tattoo after it's dried to make it last longer.

Tips & Warnings
  • Remember, temporary tattoos fade so choose colors darker than what you want.
  • Do not ask a tattoo artist to go light when giving you a tattoo. This won't give you a temporary tattoo but a poor-looking permanent tattoo.
