How to Draw Using Imagination
When you out on the grass and stared into the sky to make creatures and pictures from the clouds, you use your imagination. Good art isn't always the perfection of the drawing but how it takes the viewer to another dimension, makes them think in a way they hadn't before, or creates a world never before seen. To draw using your imagination, learn to expand it.

1
Practice drawing pictures that area upside down. This tricks the brain into believing that it is just a shape and removes preexisting ideas. You might be amazed at some of the intricate patterns that you see in the picture as you draw.

2
Use a different perspective. You could draw a flower, but if you delve into your mind and pretend you're a bee, the flower would look totally different. When you draw using imagination, you can take the bee's perspective of the flower. Now you see giant petals that are merely walls of color.

3
Exercise your mind with rubbings from objects outside. Take rubbings off of stones and other objects with different surface texture. Put them away and later bring them out to not only view the texture of the item but find hidden pictures in the rubbings.

4
Draw a picture of emotions and feelings. Use your imagination to draw what anger must look like. Then draw love. Find the part of your brain that feels and make it work for you. When you release the emotional part, you let your creative talent flow.

5
Watch a child draw. Children don't use normal perspective so important items tend to be bigger, regardless of the real size. That type of drawing is still inside you. If you know someone with a big wart that you politely ignore and then drew only for your eyes a picture of him, the wart would appear larger than life on the picture. Your thinking brain would not normally allow you to do this.

Smell the air around you and draw a picture of it. Use all the senses when you draw. If you draw using your imagination, they can all come into play. Begin by going into a restaurant and sitting by the kitchen when you're particularly hungry. Draw a picture of the smell from the kitchen.
