Microsoft Paint is a simple painting program that comes with Windows. You can use this program to draw and color an image that you can print, use in another application or simply enjoy on your computer. The steps below will tell you what you need to do to draw and color with Microsoft Paint.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Things You’ll Need:

  • Microsoft Paint

Step1
Open Microsoft Paint by clicking the "Start" menu, pointing to "Programs," choosing "Accessories" and clicking "Paint." Paint will open up the canvas, a blank white area.
Step2
Click to select a tool from the Paint toolbox that you want to use to draw on the canvas. You can choose from the Pencil, Line or Curve tools to add drawn lines on the canvas. The Pencil tool will allow you to draw free-form lines while the Line tool allows you to draw straight lines. The Curve tool lets you draw arcs onto the canvas.
Step3
Select a color to use by clicking on a color swatch at the bottom of the Paint screen. This will be the color that will show up when you draw on the canvas.
Step4
Click on the canvas and drag the mouse to use the drawing tool you have selected.
Step5
Choose a tool from the Paint toolbox that you can use to color the Paint canvas. The Fill-With-Color tool allows you to fill a closed object with the color of your choice. The Brush and Airbrush tools let you add color to the canvas in free-form lines.
Step6
Select a color that you want to use to color your Paint canvas at the bottom of the screen.
Step7
Click and drag with your mouse on the canvas to add color with the Brush and Airbrush tools. Click anywhere in a closed area with the Fill-With-Color tool selected and it will fill that area with the selected color.
