With the large number of DVD-authoring programs available on the market, consumers often struggle to determine which suite best suits their needs. Many of these programs, such as Nero or Roxio, are expensive and bursting with advanced features most consumers don't need. Users looking for a simple way to burn video files to DVD should consider DVD Flick, an open-source program that's easy to use and free.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Download DVD Flick from its developer's webpage and install it if you already haven't.

  2. Step 2

Run DVD Flick by either double-clicking its desktop icon or by finding its shortcut in the "Programs" folder of the Start Menu.

  3. Step 3

Insert a blank DVD into your DVD burner. If you want, label the DVD before you burn data to it so you'll know what's on it when it pops out.

  4. Step 4

Click on the "Add Title" button on the right side of the DVD Flick main window. Then search your computer for the video file you want to burn, highlight it and click "Open."

  5. Step 5

Repeat Step 4 until you've added all of the desired AVI files to your project.

  6. Step 6

Add chapters to one of AVI files by clicking on "Edit title" and changing the chapter settings. The Edit tool also allows you to change the video's aspect ratio from Standard 4:3 to Widescreen 16:9.

  7. Step 7

Use the "Move Up" and "Move Down" buttons to change the selected AVI file's position on the final DVD.

  8. Step 8

Press the "Create DVD" button when you're ready to burn your disc. Confirm the operation when DVD Flick asks you if you're sure you want to proceed.

Tips & Warnings
  • DVD Flick converts many video formats other than AVI to DVD as well.
