This has likely happened to nearly everyone: you pull open your shower curtain and find that one or more of the holes at the top have torn away from the shower hook. Save yourself a few dollars and repair that torn hole on your vinyl shower curtain rather than replace the entire curtain.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Clear vinyl tape
  • Hole puncher or grommet tool and grommets
  1. Step 1

Remove the shower curtain from the rod by carefully slipping the hooks through each hole. Make sure the area you are repairing on the shower curtain is clean and dry.

  2. Step 2

Cover the torn hole with two layers of clear vinyl tape. Fold the tape over the top of the shower curtain to cover the hole on both sides.

  3. Step 3

Make a new hole through the tape with a hole puncher or grommet tool and grommets. Make sure to use a hole puncher or grommet tool big enough to accommodate the type of shower curtain hooks you are using.

  4. Step 4

Rehang the shower curtain. Tug gently on the shower curtain where the repair was made to ensure the repair is strong enough to resist further tearing.

Tips & Warnings
  • Another way to fix a torn hole on a shower curtain is to cut a small circle from an old credit card, apply to the shower curtain hole with a waterproof adhesive, and make a hole with a hole puncher.
  • Use duct tape in place of vinyl tape if you don't have any vinyl tape handy and need to make a quick repair.
  • You can also repair a hole in a shower curtain with a vinyl patch kit used on tears in waterbed or pool liners, air mattresses or other vinyl products.
