Burgers seem to be a staple for Americans. You can get a burger almost anywhere--fast food restaurants, chain restaurants, romantic restaurants, steak houses and even at buffets--therefore you need to know how to eat a burger. Unbelievably, there are specific ways to eat a burger.

From Quick Guide: Burger Joints and Barbecue
Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Order the burger without a roll, put ketchup on it and cut it up. This is one way to eat a burger and is especially helpful if you have small children or if you have an allergy to wheat. You can still top it with cheese and other items that you like.

  2. Step 2

Cut the burger--roll included--into bite size pieces. Again a useful way for children to eat a burger--especially for those that think they are too old to have a burger without the roll and those that are still too young to handle a regular burger.

  3. Step 3

Add whatever you like on your burger--cheese, tomatoes, lettuce, mayonnaise, ketchup or even mustard.

  4. Step 4

Pick up the burger and roll and hold it tightly. You should use both hands so you don't have the burger--or any condiments--slipping out of the roll.

  5. Step 5

Take small bites to avoid getting ketchup everywhere--this will also avoid you having ketchup all over your face. Eating small bites at a time also shows that you have manners.

  6. Step 6

Chew slowly and make sure you keep your mouth closed. It is very bad manners to chew with your mouth open--who wants to see what's in your mouth.

Tips & Warnings
  • Some restaurants have different size burgers. If they have a child's size, you can order that for your children rather than cutting the burger.
