If you're tired of celebrating a commercialized Christmas, you're not alone. Many people are ready to get back to the true meaning of Christmas and celebrate the religious aspects of the holiday. The good thing about celebrating the religious part of Christmas is that you can fully celebrate this holiday on any budget.

Instructions

Difficulty: Easy

Step1
Put out a nativity scene in a central location of your home to remind you of the true meaning of Christmas. Don't overdo the decorations by spending more time or money than you have available.
Step2
Avoid Santa Claus in your Christmas. Don't use decorations that include him or his reindeer. This also includes not having Santa be apart of children's Christmas, such as writing letters to Santa or putting out cookies for him on Christmas Eve in expectation of his arrival.
Step3
Build your own collection of religious Christmas music. Play those in your home or in your car to keep you in the true Christmas spirit. Include the traditional Christmas hymns.
Step4
Give the gift of your time. Volunteer to help those that really need help. Work at a shelter or help collect donations for a charity group. This can be a great tradition to include for the entire family.
Step5
Decide not to exchange gifts as a family. Your family may decide to buy for a family in need or donate what they would spend on Christmas gifts and give to a charity. Your family can have warm Christmas memories of helping others.
Step6
Attend church or Mass on Christmas Eve or Christmas Day.

Tips & Warnings

  • Inform extended family and friends early of any changes in your Christmas celebration, since many people start early with their Christmas shopping.
