Step 1
Read the Internet usage policy provided by the school to determine what types of websites are allowed and what keywords or types of sites are restricted. Check carefully for mention of the filter and what it is looking for. Some function on keywords or meta tags located in the header of the web pages, and others are based on a specific list of websites.
-
Step 2
Set up a circumventor web page. This tool is a type of proxy web server that allows a user to bypass the filter settings and access restricted pages. As the filter attempts to read and validate the web page, the circumventor redirects through an unblocked page and allows the user access.
-
Step 3
Create your own anonymous or web proxy service, using a computer located off campus. Run a proxy software program on this computer, which must remain constantly connected to the Internet. Write down the IP address and take it to school.
-
Step 4
Log into the school computer and open the Internet browser provided. From the Internet Options or Services section, select the option to use or enable a proxy server. Enter the IP address of your proxy server and you can now bypass the school filter.

on 9/23/2009 Ignorant... most modern companies and schools use Internet filters by way of a filter server onsite, or proxy server offsite. The only way to trick a modern filter is to go to a proxy site that has no filter, and the websites for most of those are 99.9% blacklisted by most filters in use. Ours go one step further than that it is becoming the common norm in our industry ALL unknown websites are treated as volatile and are blocked. If you tried to go to a website that isnt in our whitelist. Your blocked. Its coded into the admins website access list on the filter server, and there is NO WAY to bypass it. Your solution is BS... Besides, all internet activity on our network is logged, and timed by machine and user. We dont use generic logins, so we WOULD know when and where and WHO went to what site... blocked or not.
