As a parent, it is up to you to encourage a child to love learning. You are the first person your child relates to, and therefore you can make learning fun or a bore. Reading and singing to your child can help encourage your child to want to do the same. Certain toys and TV can be educational and encourage a child to learn. A child is naturally curious--enhance it.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Answer all questions to the best of your ability and on a level that your child can understand. A child normally is inquisitive and needs to have answers. This will help later in school for him to want to learn more.

  2. Step 2

Read to your child even before she is born. They say that learning begins before a child is born and that she will understand more when she born if you read to her. It is never too early to encourage a child to learn. As your child gets older, you can question her about what you have read.

  3. Step 3

Ask your child's opinion on matters. If he feels he has things to contribute, they won't be self-conscious about sharing his thoughts once he starts school. Of course, you need to let him know that he needs to listen to what others say too.

  4. Step 4

Expose your child to many experiences, such as sports, dancing, travel and music. The more activities she participates in, the more interest she will have in learning.

  5. Step 5

Provide all necessary games and toys that can teach your children. The more experiences they have, the better they can learn.

Tips & Warnings
  • Although reading is one of the best skills to teach your child, it is not the only choice. Some children can learn by watching rather than reading. Let each child develop in his own way.
