Wiki pages are online resources that permit anyone to alter the content found on the site. If a page uses a wiki software program, then users can easily edit and post information. One of the most popular wikis, Wikipedia, permits visitors to edit their pages.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Select the link on the wiki page that allows you to edit the content. Typically, each section of the wiki page contains an edit link at the bottom of the text.

  2. Step 2

Learn the basics of plain text editing. This is the most commonly accepted form of editing wiki pages. It involves the use of different symbols to translate the text correctly to the wiki page. For example, using quotations around a singular word will put the word in italics when it appears on the page.

  3. Step 3

Find out if the page that you are editing recognizes HTML tags. If it does, you may have to familiarize yourself with the tags used to edit the page text.

  4. Step 4

Preview your edits before you submit them. After you have edited the content of the page, save the document and then preview it before publishing it. If you are unhappy with the editing, go back in and change the text again.
