How to Edit PDF Files in Linux Using PDFEdit

If you have ever had a Portable Document Format (PDF) file that you needed to edit but were unable to do so, help is at hand. PDFEdit is a simple yet powerful software application that you can use to edit or modify documents in PDF. You can also take advantage of its versatile GUI functions. Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Download the PDFEdit application from the "Sourceforge" website (see Resources below).

  2. Step 2

    Save the downloaded file to your hard drive. Install PDFEdit and then open it.

  3. Step 3

    Open the PDF file that you want to edit.

  4. Step 4

    Click "Tools" and make the changes that you want to make. It is always advisable to save your document frequently as you edit it.

  5. Step 5

    Close your file once you are done editing.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can save your work in seven graphic formats, including .JPG, .PNG and .BMP. Alternatively, you can export your document into XML if you don't need to save it in PDF.
  • PDFEdit is an open-source application, and thus is constantly under development. Make sure that your PDFEdit installation is a stable version.
  • When saving the file after using PDFEdit, you may receive a warning message that the contents may not be displayed properly as a special operator is added to the content stream. It is safe to ignore the message, as the page will definitely be displayed properly.
