Gothic aristocrat is a type of fashion where both men and women can wear the same outfits. Japanese musician and fashion designer Mana created a fashion line called Elegant Gothic Aristocrat. However, you can create a Gothic aristocrat outfit without having to buy expensive designer clothes. Here's how to create a simple, yet elegant, Gothic aristocrat outfit.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Blouse
  • Pants suit
  • Vest
  • Shoes
  • Accessories
  • Makeup
  1. Step 1

Buy a white blouse. Go for something silk with or without ruffles.

  2. Step 2

Layer the blouse with a vest or corset. With this type of fashion men can wear a corset too. This is a good piece of the outfit where you can add some color, like dark reds, purples or blues.

  3. Step 3

Find a black or other dark-colored suit jacket for the top layer. Long or full-length jackets or jackets with tails work well with this style.

  4. Step 4

Wear androgynous tight pants that match the suit coat. Black pants are a safe bet because they will match any dark color. Pants with a tuxedo stripe down the side make a nice touch.

  5. Step 5

Put on a pair of thigh- or knee-high boots and tuck the pant legs into the boots. Shoes with large platforms also go with Gothic aristocrat.

  6. Step 6

Accessorize with a top hat, neck tie or ascot, cane, pocket watch and monocle. You can wear all the accessories or just one or two pieces.

  7. Step 7

Apply a pale white foundation to your face, smoky eye makeup and dark red or black lipstick.

Tips & Warnings
  • The two biggest investments for this outfit are the coat and the shoes. These two items you can wear with many other things and are versatile.

on 12/13/2009 I wouldn't recommend a silk shirt, actually, or at least not the kind of silk most people would think of... shiny fabrics are not so good for atypical styles, since they can often tend to have a costume-y kind of look.
If it's really fine matte silk, it'll be an absolute fortune to buy. Light natural fibres like cotton or linen would be better choices.
And like akuma said, maybe skip the makeup. It's a bit too 80s visual kei to look naturally elegant unless you're a woman, and pale foundations on darker skin tones really looks rather crummy.

on 8/8/2009 I would suggest skipping #7 altogether actually. Very few people can pull off that kind of makeup and if you're going for a somewhat authentic look...you don't need any makeup.
