Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Start off practicing with a team with whom you can take turns attempting the double shot. Make sure you both turn your shields off and are armed with a secondary weapon to complete the double shot.
Step2
Take aim at your opponent and shoot, pressing the R button (if that's the control configuration you use). Immediately after you press R the first time, press it again and then follow the second R by pressing Y. Try to keep each button press fast and distinct from the others.
Step3
Reload quickly and move away from where you were, since Halo's double shot glitch requires that you stand in one place for long enough to get picked off by a savvy gamer. If you find that the double shot is only getting you killed, use it in set ups such as hallways where you know enemies are going to stream in without being aware of your presence.
Step4
Aim at your opponent's head and then use the R, R, Y sequence to do the guardian glitch for an almost certain take-out. Use the guardian glitch with caution, however, since it takes more time than you should give up in a competitive Halo 2 situation.
