How to Date Out of One's League
Dating out of your league is a very intriguing proposition. Given the opportunity, most people would take the chance to be with someone smarter, more attractive or wealthier than themselves. You can date out of your league by following a few simple instructions.

1
Determine what "league" you want to date higher in first. This could be wealth, appearance, education, intelligence or any other set of qualifiers. Be specific; if you're looking for someone who's drop-dead gorgeous and who has a sports car, the leagues are physical appearance and car. Make up your own leagues so that you own this exercise.
-
2
Determine the value you're looking for in each league on a scale of one to 10. For example, maybe you want an eight in physical appearance who has a seven car.
-
-
3
Assess accurately your present value and place in the areas or "leagues" that matter most to you. Maybe you have a great face but your body is out of shape and your car doesn't start. Rate yourself on a scale of one to 10. Be brutally honest. If you can't be honest, ask a couple of blunt friends to give their opinions about your value in those leagues.
-
4
Realize that you can normally date no more than two points higher than your current rank. If your expectations are unrealistic (e.g., you're a two and you still want an eight), take measures to improve yourself in that league. Otherwise, lower your expectations of how high you can date. If you're a two, dating a four or five is still technically dating out of your league.

Tips & Warnings
You refer to leagues in two ways, first by type and then by rank. Usually the term "out of my league" refers to rank within a specific league.
