The four-part braid is a dramatic look that is easy to care for. To do it, braid the outside sections over the inside sections, then reach behind to pull the inside sections around to the outside. The sections wind through one another to create the braid.

Things You'll Need:

  1. Step 1

Mist the hair damp with water from a spray bottle before you begin braiding so that it is easier to manage. Comb the hair into four evenly sized sections.

  2. Step 2

Take the strand on the outside left and pull it behind the two inside sections of hair, then in front of the inside-right section.

  3. Step 3

Hold on to the outer-right section of hair and pull it behind the two inside sections, then in front of the inside-left section. As a result of these maneuvers, the outer-right section of hair is now the inside-right section. This is also true for the left.

  4. Step 4

Continue this process until you have braided the hair down to the ends, then secure the hair with a hair band.

Tips & Warnings
  • Braiding hair is easier to do when the hair is wet. Working with wet hair also prevents fly-aways.
  • Embellish by winding ribbons through the hair while you're braiding or by adding beads to the end of the braid.
