How to Change in a School Locker Room
If you're shy, then changing in a locker room may seem like a nightmare to you. You may feel like everyone is staring at you and making judgments about your body. However, you can change in a school locker room without feeling such tension and anxiety.

1
Pick an area of the locker room that is inconspicuous. Corners of a locker room are typically good places to change because they often offer an obscured view.
-
2
Hang by your friends. Changing in a group can make you feel as though you are not standing out in plain view for everyone to look at.
-
-
3
Prepare your clothes before you undress. If you lay out your clothes first, it cuts down on the time that you are left exposed.
-
4
Dress at a normal speed. Keep your movements natural. If you're spastic about changing quickly, you'll draw even more attention to yourself.
-
5
Put on your deodorant after you have dressed. Lift away your shirt and roll on the deodorant. Finish up by putting on your socks and sneakers.

Tips & Warnings
If you're very uncomfortable, you may want to use the bathrooms in the school locker room to change for gym class.
Don't stare at others while changing in a school locker room. You don't want to make them feel uncomfortable.
Girls should remember to shave if they find hairy legs and armpits--embarrassing.

The real trick is to realize you have just as much right to keep your body private in a locker room as you have in the street or any other public place. Once you get that into your head, you can change in exactly the same way as you would if you had to change in any other public place. It's just perfectly natural, and easy as well, just to cover yourself with a towel, first around your waist while you change the bottom half and then around your torso to change the other half. Make sure the towel is big and, yes, it's a good idea to have velcro strips to hold it on. A bra can be put on perfectly easily by putting it over the towel, clipping the back and then gently easing the towel out leaving the bra in place. No need to feel strange about it. If you're changing with people you know, look them straight in the eye and behave as you would in any other place. No one has ever seen... -

Good advice--even for adults. I use the locker room at LA Fitness, and I feel nervous and axious when I change clothes. 70% of the women are thin or toned and I'm still flabby. Plus, I just don't want people seeing my body parts even if I was in shape. I'm conservative. A very GOOD tip is to get a strapless towel-wrap (or get a regular towel and sew velcro onto it) and you can put your shorts/panties on while wearing it. Leave your locker all the way open, use it as a shield, and turn your back to the room as you change your top/bra.
