Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Base foundation
  • Eyeliner
  • Eye shadow
  • Lipstick
  1. Step 1

Start with the base make-up. You want something that is pale but goes with your skin tone. There are typically warm and cool skin tones. Warm has pink undertones and cool has more yellow undertones. Choose a base that is your skin tone and a little paler. Going drastically paler than your actual skin will make your look gray rather than white.

  2. Step 2

Use black eyeliner to outline your eyes. Typically black is used. The upper eyelid is outlined heavily but only half of the bottom is outlined. Usually the area from the outside corner of the bottom lid to the middle of the iris is outlined.

  3. Step 3

Wear white, gray or pearl eye shadow. Use the eye shadow to highlight your eyes using your finger or a brush. The eye shadow should highlight the corners of your eyes.

  4. Step 4

Use two shapes of lipstick for your lips. Typically the darker is worn on the outside corners of both lips and a paler color in the middle. Make sure to blend these colors gently.

Tips & Warnings
  • Find a visual kei band or stylist that you like and practice copying the make-up. This is the best way to figure out what to do with all of the makeup to get the look that you want. Once you know how to do the make-up, you can find a look that is uniquely you.
  • Visual Kei isn't just about the makeup. The style extends to haircuts with blunt, straight bangs with asymmetrical cuts and multicolor dye jobs. The clothing is a mix of punk and Goth.
