It is always best to have a chiropractor adjust your back to avoid permanent injury. However, in some rare cases, it is possible to crack someone else's back without the help of a doctor. Before you crack someone else's back, ask them some questions to rule out a possible injury.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Make sure when you're going to crack someone else's back that he hasn't been injured, had surgery, and that he doesn't have any other health issues.

  2. Step 2

Ask him to lie on a soft surface on his stomach. Gently massage the muscles surrounding the spine to relax the muscles. You can do this with your hands or a tennis ball.

  3. Step 3

Press gently, but firmly with the palms of your hands on either side of his spine, and ask him to exhale as you press. Make sure you're pressing on the muscle and not his actual spine. You may hear some pops, but many times just relaxation techniques will help release the back muscles so the back cracks easily.

  4. Step 4

Ask after each press if he's OK, and if it's too much pressure.

Tips & Warnings
  • Tell the person to call a chiropractor for a full examination before attempting to crack someone else's back.
  • Never force someone's back to crack. Just gently press, and never push hard.
  • Never crack someone else's back if they've been injured or involved in any type of accident.
  • Don't hurt the other person. You should ask before pressing how much pressure he desires.
  • Never attempt to pop someone else's neck. This could cause permanent injury.
