How to Be a Borderline Emo

A borderline emo is someone who leans toward emo tendencies but isn't openly emo. Emo style originated from emotionally (emo) charged punk rock music. Perhaps his hair is brushed over an eye, but there are no visible signs of eyeliner, or the music collection include Panic at the Disco or Red Jumpsuit Apparatus.

    Instructions

      • 1

Listen to punk rock music, such as My Chemical Romance, Green Day or Fall Out Boy. If you secretly enjoy this music on a regular basis, but you don't want to admit you do, you may be a borderline emo.

      • 2

Dress in black or wear vintage T-Shirts that are too small and have logos on the front, but toss in a brightly colored article of clothing occasionally to be a borderline emo.

      • 3

Pierce your lip, but only wear the lip ring when no one is looking to be a borderline emo.

      • 4

Cry and believe the world is against you, but when someone asks why you're crying, deny it and pretend something has gotten caught in your eye. That's what a borderline emo would do.

      • 5

Deny your emo-looking friends to your other friends and family to be a borderline emo.

    Tips & Warnings

    • Many kids are emo, but deny it due to ridicule or others not understanding the emo subculture.

    • Cutting (literally slashing one's body with a sharp object) is common among the emo kids. If you suspect your child may be cutting himself, seek professional advice.

    • The term "emo" stems from emotion or emotionally, so if you or someone you know experiences signs of depression, seek professional advice.
