How to Bestow a Blessing
Depending on your religious beliefs and background, you may use a different prayer to bestow a blessing, but the meaning is the same no matter what words you use. Whether you want to give your best to a couple at a wedding or a sick friend in the hospital, the feelings behind the blessing are the most important ingredient.

1
Draw upon your religious education to form a prayer that sends a positive message to the recipient of your blessing. While you may not practice the religion of your youth anymore, the words you learned in Sunday school can serve as a framework for the blessing you wish to convey.
-
2
Be authentic. Blessings are forms of sending peace and goodwill to others and come out best when the giver has the right intentions. The words don't have as much power as the feelings behind the prayer.

3
Offer a toast at a wedding to send a blessing to the newlyweds. In the context of the toast, you can often find words that can turn a simple public action into a blessing for both the couple and those who hear your words.
-
4
Give a monetary donation to bestow a blessing. While blessings are often thought of as words of encouragement and goodwill, money is a blessing in its own right, especially for a very needy person or organization.
-
5
Send a note or card of encouragement. Written blessings can be read over and over by the recipient. Sometimes it is easier to write your feelings than to say them and receiving blessings in writing also are sometimes easier to hear.
-
6
Quietly and anonymously extend your blessings through prayer. If you believe in a higher power, your blessings can be unspoken and sent through your meditation to make a difference in the world.
