How to Create a Community on Orkut

Orkut, Google's social networking site, offers many community features for you to enjoy. Orkut communities inspire members to connect over a shared interest or hobby. Besides joining one of the previously created Orkut communities, you can make your own.

Instructions
  1. Step 1

    Join Orkut or sign in to the site. If you have a Google account, you don't need to go through the registration process. Use your Google email account and password to log into Orkut.

  2. Step 2

    Search the current communities. After finishing your Orkut profile, browse the existing communities on Orkut. To do this, go to the "Communities" section on the Orkut page and type a community name in the search bar.

  3. Step 3

    Click on "Create" to add a new community to Orkut. After confirming your identity, you're redirected to a community registration page.

  4. Step 4

    Pick a name and category for your new Orkut community and describe your group in order to appeal to new potential members.

  5. Step 5

    Manage your community settings. Set community messaging options, control membership, and customize forum and poll postings. After you finish putting in your community's settings, you can click "Submit" and invite members to your community.

Tips & Warnings
  • You can also browse for communities on Orkut by topic. Simply select the category that best suits your potential community's theme.
  • Abide by Orkut's Terms of Use when managing your new community. Read this document before creating an Orkut community.
