How to Create a Flawless Filing System on a Computer
To create a flawless filing system on a computer takes time and patience. Many like the idea of being able to find files simply but don't want to take the time to make it easy. However, you can do it with a minimal amount of time if you follow the steps below.

1
Create folders in your my documents or on a drive on which you have allocated space for your documents.
-
2
Make as many folders as necessary. If you do work from this computer then make sure you have folders for each of the companies you work for and then divide that folder into sub-folders so you don't have to constantly search for important information. For example, if you were doing data entry work, you could create a folder with the company's name. Sub-folders could include "time sheets", "mail" you receive, "documents" you needed to provide the company with and "examples" of the work you are doing.

3
Assign folders for your personal documents as well and they should be separate from any work documents you have. Therefore, you want to make a folder for work documents and another for personal documents, and then add your sub-folders.
-
4
Keep your school documents, private files, pictures and music in separate sections. Categorize your folders depending on your needs.
-
5
File each document into the proper folder--or create a new one--as you receive them. Add folders as often as necessary. If you do this each time you receive a document, it is easy to manage.
-
6
Apply these steps to the emails you receive and you will have a flawless filing system on your computer.
