A backside flip is a popular move done in skateboarding competitions. It's a smooth looking move somewhat difficult to master. If you practice regularly you can get the hang of it and eventually catch the board before it hits the ground. Follow these steps to learn how to do a backside flip.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Place your feet in a kick flip position with all your weight in the center. Your back foot is in the center of the tail end of the skateboard. Your front foot is slightly beneath the front screws of the skateboard.
Step2
Crouch down on the skateboard in preparation for the backside flip. Direct your gaze to the front screws on the skateboard and don't release it. A direct gaze will ensure that your skateboard ends up where you want it.
Step3
Keep your shoulders forward to provide the necessary force to spin the skate board 180 degrees. Stand up and whack the board while spinning your shoulders in the direction that you want to go.
Step4
Kick flip the board and flick the front foot to do a backside flip. The board's axis will spin through the front truck bolts.
Step5
Push your back leg out behind you. Your shoulders will bring up the tail. Land all four wheels on the ground.

Tips & Warnings

  • If you have difficulty reverting the skateboard, try pushing your rear foot to the edge of the board. This will give more pressure for you to flip the board.
  • Always wear the necessary protective equipment before attempting to perform these stunts. You risk head, neck, back and wrist injury.
