How to Create Windows XP Recovery DVDs Using Acronis True Image

Acronis True Image features an easy to use interface that allows you to create a backup image of your hard drive quickly and easily. If you ever have a problem with your hard drive or Windows, your data will be safely backed up and you'll be able to restore a stable image of your system, saving hours in recovery time. It also features an option to create bootable rescue media, which you can use if your system won't boot.

      Open Acronis True Image. Click "Create Bootable Rescue Media." Put a blank CD in the drive when prompted. Wait for the boot disk to burn. If you get error messages, boot into safe mode. Open Acronis and create the rescue media.

      Put the bootable DVD CD into the CD tray. Shut down your computer. Restart your computer. Make sure the computer boots from the CD and the Rescue Media screen appears.

      Restart the computer. Create a folder on your hard drive to save the backup images to. Open Acronis True Image. Click "Tools" and "Options" from the menu. Select "Archive Splitting." Enter the option to split archives. Choose "4000MB."

      Choose "Backup." Select the option to back up the entire partition. Choose the partitions to back up. Click "Next." Select "Full Backup" and click "Next."

      Browse to the folder on your hard drive where you want to save the backup files. Click "OK." Wait for Acronis to make a backup of your partitions.

      Open the program you use to burn DVDs. Select the first backup file. Save it to the DVD program. Burn the file to DVD. Complete the session and the DVD. Label the DVD and indicate that it is the first DVD in the set.

      Burn DVDs for each backup file in the directory. Label each DVD. Run the "Check Archive" tool in Acronis to check the DVDs. Insert the last DVD from the backup. You will be prompted to insert the others.
