When you are adding a room to a basement or garage area, or building a new structure, you need to attach the wall framing to your cement floor. There are several different ways to accomplish this. Some ways are easier than others.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Use threaded anchors which are set into the concrete when your slab or foundation is poured. This is the strongest way to attach wall framing for exterior walls. Measure the distance between your threaded anchors and drill your holes into your plate. Secure your plate with a washer and nut.

  2. Step 2

Secure your wall framing with drive anchors to your cement floor as another method. This method is relatively simple. Once your wall framing is in place, use a hammer drill to drill a hole in your plate and into the cement floor. Insert the drive anchor into the hole. As you hit the drive anchor with the hammer, it expands the bottom of the drive anchor into the cement floor which secures the plate to the cement floor.

  3. Step 3

Drive cut nails or cement nails into your wall framing to attach it to your cement floor. These nails are hardened and can penetrate the cement floor. This is probably the simplest way to attach wall framing to cement floors.

  4. Step 4

Drill pilot holes into your cement floor for lead anchors. Drive your lead anchors into your cement floor. Now, measure your bottom plate so that your holes match where your lead anchors are located. Use the threaded bolt and screw it into your lead anchor to attach your wall framing to your cement floor.
