How to Be an Awesome Radio Announcer

Being a radio announcer is a difficult job because the announcer is always performing in the spotlight. Becoming an awesome radio announcer requires much practice and work. It isn't as easy as one, two, three and you're on the air. You must be cued in and hold your audience on the other end of your microphone. Learn how you can be an awesome radio announcer.

1. Send your resume to radio stations you would like to work for. Include a tape and an application letter along with your resume, and show the company how great you sound when on the air. Research the radio industry so you can impress them in your interview.

2. Research the company that you will be working for. Know who the station's audience is, what type of music they play, the history of the station and so forth. Listen to how the other announcers talk to the audience.

3. Know what type of equipment they use at the studio such as head phones, ear phones and microphones. You must know how to use these pieces of equipment as well as the CD and tape players, editing programs and the broadcasting station.

4. Find out what you will do for each shift and prepare. Know what songs will be played, when they will be played, and find out who the artists are that you will be playing. Keep up to date on your shifts and the information so you can be on top of everything.

5. Practice as much as possible before you go on air. Talk it out and prepare what you will say for each shift. Make sure you know exactly how you will present and appear to your audience.
