How to Be in the Avon Marching Band

It takes cooperation, teamwork, discipline and hard work to excel in marching band competition. The Avon High School Marching Band in Indiana is exemplary in music, visual performance, percussion and marching skills year after year. They perform in competitions and prestigious parades all over the country. It is an honor and privilege to participate in the Avon Marching Band. The honor carries responsibilities and demands commitment.

  1. Step 1

    Participate in the Avon Marching Band training camps, rehearsals and performances. This preparation readies you for the national stage and spotlight.

  2. Step 2

    Follow rehearsal etiquette and remember this is not a social event. Arrive on time ready to work, treat the staff and other students with respect, listen carefully and take care of the band's equipment.

  3. Step 3

    Read the Code of Conduct and act according to the rules and policies. Remember that your behavior creates an impression that reflects on the image of your state, region, district, school, parents and you.

  4. Step 4

    Take your participation in the marching band seriously by giving your best during preparation and performances. Your band is only as good as the weakest member.

    Wear your Avon Marching Band uniform exactly as directed. Keep your uniform neat and clean and your belongings organized.

    Prepare yourself to travel into other countries such as Canada. Apply for your passport early so it's not delayed by security measures.
