Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Plan your page ahead of time so you know where the text box will appear. Your text box should enhance your page, not make it look cluttered.
Step2
Type the main body of your document leaving room for the text box. Text boxes often appear on the right side of the page.
Step3
Open Microsoft Word or another word processing program. Click "Insert" on the menu bar at the top of your page. A drop down menu will appear. Choose "Horizontal or Vertical Text Box" from the menu. Your cursor will now change to a "Cross" shape.
Step4
Place the "Cross" where you want the text box to appear. Click and drag the "Cross" making the shape of a square or rectangular box. Let go of the mouse. A text box will now appear.
Step5
Click in the middle of the text box if you want to reshape the box. Little square handles will now appear around the box. Click and drag on any of the handles to make the box larger.
Step6
Pick a font that will look nice in the box. You may want the text box font to appear a little smaller than the regular text on the page.
Step7
Type your information in the box, add clip art or photos. Anything you place in the text box will take the shape and size of the box.
Step8
Place your mouse outside of the text box and click the page when you are finished. The handles will disappear and your text box will be set on the page.
