Sometimes when you shop for clothes you can't find that piece that shows who you are. You can spend a lot of money trying to capture the right look or you can take your old miniskirt and make it your own.

Difficulty: Moderate
Instructions

Things You'll Need:

  • Miniskirt
  • Fabric scissors
  • Fabric swatches
  • Buttons
  • Ribbons or other craft items
  1. Step 1

Find a miniskirt. Search through your closet or buy something new. Make sure it fits and is clean and ready for updating.

  2. Step 2

Gather together any fabric swatches, patches, buttons or other craft items you may want on your skirt. Use specific colors or a mix of random colors and patterns.

  3. Step 3

Cut hearts, stars or other shapes from the fabric swatches. Lay them in place before securing them to make sure you have the correct placement. Try adding swatches to the back pockets or to the bottom edging of the skirt.

  4. Step 4

Pin the pieces and secure them with a sewing machine. Make sure each piece is sewn correctly so it won't fall off when you wear the skirt. Add buttons and other craft pieces to finish the look.

  5. Step 5

Wear the updated miniskirt with tights or tall boots and add your personal style in the form of accessories. Show off your personality with this new look.

Tips & Warnings
  • Look in magazines or online to see what others have created--get ideas from anywhere you see them. Don't be afraid to add lace or colored fabric to make the skirt longer or to give it more dimension. It's your skirt--do what you want with it.
