Cross dressing is an often misunderstood subculture. While it might get easy laughs in the media, cross dressing is actually becoming an increasingly accepted lifestyle choice for people from different backgrounds. To become a cross dresser, however, there are a few things you must keep in mind.

Difficulty: Moderately Challenging
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Determine how much you want cross dressing to influence your daily life. Some cross dressers only cross dress when going out in the evening for socializing, while others cross dress even at their jobs.

  2. Step 2

Get a sense for what kind of fashion statement you want to make. Some cross dressers want to go all out with as much tacky verve as they can muster; others prefer a more understated and elegant look.

  3. Step 3

Frequent establishments that formally support a cross dressing lifestyle. Night clubs that feature drag shows are an easy way to see how others have become a cross dresser.

  4. Step 4

Join a local chapter of one of the gay and lesbian support groups. While not all cross dressers are homosexuals, this community tends to be more open and supportive for those who want to become a cross dresser.

  5. Step 5

Remember that you aren't crazy. Too many people have suffered negative psychological effects from trying to suppress what they feel to be true about themselves as people; seeking happiness is more important than merely pursuing the status quo.

Tips & Warnings
  • Remember to clear your dress code choice with your boss before cross dressing at work. It may lead to your termination.
