Take yourself seriously and dress your best. You don't have to spend a lot to be trendy. Just take the time to dress nicely, be yourself and let your personality shine through. Follow these tips to be a fashionable teenager and look your best.

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Wear clothes that fit you well and aren't too tight or falling off. You don't need to wear the latest fashions to be fashionable. You just need to dress nicely and look like you.

  2. Step 2

Buy clothes that suit your personality. It's not what you wear, but how the clothing suits you. Pick colors that accentuate your skin and your body shape.

  3. Step 3

Choose a signature item that shows off your personality. Wear a special necklace or hair band that's different than what others wear. People will soon come to associate your signature item with you.

  4. Step 4

Read fashion magazines and teen magazines to see the latest fashion trends. Look at the European magazines if you want to stay ahead of the trends. New fashions usually appear in London and Paris before they come to North America.

  5. Step 5

Go to a fashion show or speak to a fashion consultant. Read fashion blogs or join a fashion forum and chat with other fashionable teens. Watch Fashion Television to see the current fashions. Many of the designs are targeted at young people.

  6. Step 6

Find the latest fashionable footwear. Buy trendy sneakers or designer flats in many colors. Make sure you get a pair of trendy heels to go with those skirts you often see in the summer.

  7. Step 7

Go eco-friendly and choose tee shirts with earth day logos. Buy a new fashion bag with a eco-friendly message on the side.

  8. Step 8

Know designer brand names like Betsey Johnson and Vera Wang. Visit designer websites to find out the current designers for teen fashion.

Tips & Warnings
  • Dare to be different. Create the next fashion instead of copying those already out there.
  • Carry yourself with confidence. People will look up to you if you smile and look at home in your own clothing.
  • Don't equate fashion with money. You can be fashionable without spending a lot.
