How to Access Restricted Websites on Windows XP

Parents normally block certain websites, which may include gaming or other unnecessary websites in order to restrict their children's access to them. However, if one of your favorite websites is accidentally blocked, Windows enables you to unblock and access it. You may also block websites using the same feature. Here's how to access restricted sites and how to block them again:

Accessing Restricted Websites on Windows XP

  • Launch Internet Explorer. Find whether the website you are trying to access is on the restricted websites list.

  • Remove the restriction by clicking "Remove" and then click "Close" and "OK."

  • Open the "Tools" menu and then select "Internet Options." Next select the "Security tab" and then "Sites"

  • Select the site that needs to be unblocked. You may choose multiple websites at a time.

  • Refresh the page by hitting the refresh icon shown in the Internet Explorer or simply Press F5 in your keyboard. You should now be able to access restricted websites.

Blocking Websites on Windows XP

  • Launch Internet Explorer. Find whether the website you are trying to access is on the restricted websites list.

  • Access the "Tools" menu and then go to "Internet Options." Click on the "Security tab," and then click "Sites." Next, click "Add."

  • Type in the URL of the website you wish to block. You may type in more than one web address at a time.

  • Click "Close" and then "OK" once you have typed in the websites you wish to block. Refresh the page by hitting the refresh icon shown in the Internet Explorer or simply Press F5 in your keyboard.
