How to Be a Disrupter

There are many disrupters in society, from noisemaking commentators to badly behaved rock stars to aimless rebels and even much admired social reformers. Whether society likes them or not, disrupters serve a larger purpose and often become a sort of celebrity, making the road to disruption worthwhile.

Instructions

Difficulty: Challenging

Step1
Make yourself stand out for your positive qualities and excellence in whatever you do. Be bold but unpredictable and make sure that when you decide to rebel against something you have the ability and will to follow through with it.
Step2
Pick a controversial topic to pursue that gets people quickly riled up. The topic can be something as simple as whether high school students have to participate in PE (if you're in high school) or as complex as challenging the historical framework of a teaching curriculum. Either way, look for a topic that is new and undebated but still very important to people.
Step3
Start actively being a disrupter by saying what people (at least some people) around you don't want you to say, at a time and place that they don't want it said. Make sure you take your topic on in a way that challenges society and social norms. Stay away from crossing lines such as racism and legality, but where society gives you an inch of leeway, take a mile.
Step4
Claim persecution when authorities try to put down your rebellion and take your cause to the next level by publicizing it in the media. Contact local newspapers and bloggers who are willing to publish your story. Stay honest (if bombastic) when you speak with journalists since an exposed lie will disrupt your mission to become a disrupter.
