The Internet is buzzing with people using Twitter to keep in touch with friends or connect with others. Increase the number of people who follow you on Twitter by providing good content, networking and by building relationships with family, friends and colleagues.

Instructions

Difficulty: Moderately Easy
Step1
Brand yourself on Twitter by selecting a Twitter name that is eye-catching and memorable. Build a consistent brand by using the same name that is featured on your blog or website.
Step2
Devote a certain amount of time each day to reading the Public Timeline, which features new Twitter feeds. This feed shows new Twitters by the second. Select Twitter feeds that are interesting, and add them to your "Follow" list.
Step3
Note which Twitter accounts have a high number of people following them. Add them to your "Follow" list. Build a relationship by commenting and replying to their Twitters.
Step4
Use Twitter as one large conversation. Add interest to the conversation. Use humor in your Twitters. Share important news that is relevant to large numbers of people.
Step5
Include links that show good content or tell a story. Make sure the links have a purpose. Boring content or broken links will decrease the opportunity to socialize successfully.
Step6
Resist the urge to produce massive amounts of Twitters. This becomes Internet "noise" and will turn people off.
Step7
Find people with the same interests by doing keyword searches on Twitter. Add those people to your list to follow. Connect with them and converse via Twitter.

Tips & Warnings

  • Introduce yourself to new people by replying to their Twitters and showing something in common.
