The Paralympics take place every Olympic year in September, immediately following the Olympics. Just like the Olympics, the Paralympics include a torch relay through global locations, culminating in the lighting of the Paralympic torch.

Difficulty: Easy
Instructions
  1. Step 1

Visit the official Olympics site for updates on each specific Paralympics. You can learn about Paralympic venues, dates and events, as well as the torch relay when the information is announced.

  2. Step 2

Look for information on torch relays for both the Olympics and the Paralympics about a year in advance.

  3. Step 3

Expect the torch route to visit important sites in the host country or around the world. For example, the Summer Paralympics held in Bejing, China during 2008 include three torch relay routes--one visits Paralympic host sites around the world from the past and future and the other two visit ancient Chinese and modern Chinese cities.

  4. Step 4

Plan your visit around the torch route. If you're keeping track of the Paralympic torch route, the torch relay may be an excellent time to visit one of the torch relay destinations. The Olympics and Paralympics draw a lot of tourism dollars and contribute to improved facilities and increased activities for visitors during the events.
